This Web-based electrocardiogram (ECG / EKG) software uses an electrical
recording of the heart and displays it to a webpage.
WEBECG seeks to address a number of critical issues surrounding ECG data such as use of multimedia, wide-area access, efficient data transmission, and capability to export results to other software applications. In its initial implementation, it is setup as a demonstration technology test.
Some of the fields for which WEBECG is potentially relevant include: heart disease, rural and or remote access, multimedia databases, medical imaging, bioinformatics.
Examples of ECG research areas that may potentially benefit from the use of WEBECG include cardiovascular conditions, high blood pressure/cholesterol, respiratory conditions, allergy conditions, diet..etc..
Purpose
WEBECG is a prototype Web-based system created by Ian McArdle as a research and development project.
The purpose of WEBECG is to enable users to gain access to significant ECG data from any location on the planet. Since most people are familiar with their favourite Web browser, learning to use WEBECG is very easy.
Capabilities
WEBECG lets users log in over the internet with a web browser.
There are no requirements of the client (no installations/setup/software) other than an Internet connection and a Java ready Web Browser.
Load is negligible due to careful design and implementation of the WEBECG Application.
